About Leveling Up
Post 131:
Most, if not all of us, have a latent desire to do something really, really, well. Game-changing. Maybe you don’t carry this thought around every minute of every day, but the thought, if you’re doing much thinking, has occurred.
Here’s the hitch. Leveling up is tough. Life isn’t a video game or some other type of simulation. You don’t get extra lives. Just the one. As far as I know, anyway.
I think the fact that you don’t need to level up makes the whole thing even harder. You can keep facing the same old challenges on the same old level—why even try to get to the next stage?
Why indeed. Probably, because there are higher levels. That they exist is reason enough for some people. There are others occupying those levels. A lot of folks see that and say, “why not me?”
It’s a video-game metaphor, which we all know are the greatest of all metaphors. Play on players. See you after.
